Meet The Founder

Lauryn Mohr, BA, MS
Founder & CEO, Whole-istic Medicine™

Lauryn Mohr is the founder and CEO of The Lo Down and the creator of Whole-istic Medicine™, her signature method for reversing gut, autoimmune, hormone, and metabolic conditions outside the pharmaceutical model. She holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Exercise Physiology and Advanced Nutrition, and she developed that method the long way, through years inside conventional healthcare in cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes education, and metabolic testing program management. She knows what that system does well, and she knows exactly where it stops.

Her vision never stopped at a thriving patient caseload. What started as a solo private practice now operates as an ecosystem. Education is where her energy naturally goes, and she trains the next generation of clinicians through the 12-month Whole-istic Medicine™ Mentorship Program, putting her medicine into the hands of practitioners who will carry it forward.

That same conviction led her to co-found Origins Holistic Therapies & Preferred Provider Network, a collaborative care clinic built on a simple premise: care gets better when providers collaborate instead of compete. One clinic, many disciplines, designed to elevate the patient experience and the providers delivering it.

She is also the host of the Learn with Lo podcast, where she makes root cause medicine accessible to the people living it.

The Team

Amanda Caven, BS, MS
Functional Nutrition Practitioner

Amanda Caven works with women through the seasons where the body changes fastest and gets dismissed most. Hormonal imbalances and cycle irregularities. Preconception care. Pregnancy and postpartum. These are the windows where root cause work changes the trajectory, not just the symptom.

She also brings functional mental health to the practice, addressing anxiety, depression, mood changes, brain fog, and stress resilience from the physiology up. This is where her background is rare. For the last decade, Amanda worked primarily with adults living with serious and persistent mental illness, which means she has sat with people in the hardest version of this conversation. She knows what conventional psychiatry does well, and she knows exactly where it leaves people without answers.

Amanda studied nutrition and exercise at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, earning her Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science and her Master's Degree in Health Promotion and Physical Activity. She is trained in the Whole-istic Medicine™ framework and leads the patient-facing care division of The Lo Down, LLC.

What People Are Saying

“I wish I had learned this information decades ago! In my quest to be “healthy,” I had done all the diets, yet only felt more lethargic, anxious and inflamed. MYM opened my eyes to a whole new way of using food as my most powerful medicine in a sustainable & enjoyable way! This 6-week experience was truly therapy for my mind & body and I feel more energized & confident than I have in years!”

— Emily J.

"I've tried multiple functional practitioners for gut issues that plagued me since childhood. But all they did was pump me with elimination diets & supplements. Lauryn was the first practitioner that actually connected the dots to the root cause of my gut issues, ran comprehensive testing and helped me reverse them for good! And the best part? I eat MORE foods than I used to without fear of flares and feel better than ever!"

— Tiffany P.

I had done so many diets but I had such a wrong view of food. I developed hormonal imbalances, low energy, gut issues. Lauryn helped me heal my body as a whole - not just dismiss or throw medication at a symptom. My energy has increased, my reflux is gone, I'm sleeping through the night, I'm less irritable, I have more energy for workouts, and feel the best I have in decades skating through perimenopause!”

Our practice is intentionally out-of-network with insurance. This is a conscious decision rooted in our commitment to providing truly individualized, root-cause care.

Insurance companies often limit the time, testing, and treatment options available—creating barriers that can compromise your outcomes.

By operating outside of that system, we’re able to take a more comprehensive, personalized approach. That means longer visits, advanced testing when appropriate, and a care plan that’s tailored specifically to you—not dictated by a third party.

This model consistently leads to deeper, more sustainable results for our patients. While we don’t bill insurance directly, we’re happy to provide superbills for potential reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits or accept HSA / FSA funds.
